Keeping track of the company’s SUV lineup is… Volkswagen In China, it’s tough, but models moving to other markets under different names give an early glimpse of what’s ahead. The latest of these is the Teramont Pro, which was recently unveiled at China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is expected to arrive in North America as the next-generation model of theVolkswagen Atlas2026.

New design and distinctive specifications

The Teramont Pro features a new design with improved details. The new model features updated dual headlights and a covered, illuminated front bar that connects the headlights to the Volkswagen logo, giving the car a cohesive look. Two versions of the front bumper will be offered: one for the base model and a sportier one for the higher-end models, which could match the base and R-Line versions of the Atlas.

Dimensions and specifications

The Teramont Pro measures 5,158 mm long, 1,991 mm wide, and 1,788 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,980 mm. The length may differ slightly from the current Atlas model in the US market, but the wheelbase is the same. The model is expected to use the MQB Evo platform, which is familiar from Volkswagen Group vehicles.

The Teramont Pro 450TSI features a 268-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system and a DSG automatic transmission. The North American Atlas is expected to continue with the same engine, with a plug-in hybrid variant also available.

Release date

The Teramont Pro is expected to be unveiled in China early next year, while the new Atlas is expected to appear in North America in the same year, and a sporty Atlas Cross may also be revealed.
